NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Edward F. Nimmons, 81, of North Adams passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday June 18, 2024 after a period of declining health. He was born in Adams, MA on October 25, 1942, the only child of the late James and Lila (Burnett) Nimmons.
Ed grew up in Adams playing baseball and basketball and graduated from the Adams Memorial High School with the class of 1962. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1969. Ed began his career in banking as a teller at North Adams Hoosac Savings Bank, now Mountain One Bank, in 1964 and retired from his position as Senior Vice President of Hoosac and Mountain One Financial Partners in 2004. He then joined Premier Realty Concepts in retirement.
Ed made a personal commitment to the success of Berkshire County and its future health, through his active contribution to many prominent organizations. These activities included: Past co-chair and member of the North Adams Fall Foliage Parade and parade committee, Treasurer of Northern Berkshire United Way and a 30-year board member, past President of the North Adams Rotary Club, a 40 year volunteer for Northern Berkshire EMS, formerly North Adams Ambulance Service and acted as it’s treasurer for 30 years. He was the auditor for the Berkshire Baptist Association for many years. During the summer season, Ed served as a Tanglewood volunteer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf.
Ed leaves his son, Jamie Nimmons and his former wife Judy Nimmons of North Adams, MA.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The Funeral for Ed Nimmons will be celebrated on Monday June 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Bellevue cemetery in Adams. Calling Hours at the funeral home are Monday morning from 9-11 AM.
