Donald Wilfred Stack, 70, of Yuma, Ariz, died at home on April 25 from COPD and lung lymphoma. He spent nearly a year on hospice but never became bedbound, just went to sleep and never woke up.

Don was born on May 11, 1951, in Westfield, Mass, and adopted by Wilfred William Stack and Eleanor (Peat) Stack of North Adams. He was a member of the St. Joseph's High School class of 1969. 

Don drove truck in Boston until greyhound racing brought him to Wisconsin where he met his wife, Suzanne (Hopkins) Stack. They married in 1991 and moved to Arizona, where Suzanne practiced veterinary medicine and Don drove truck until retiring in 2009. 

Retirement years saw 200K miles on their RV, seasons of sun and golf at Hilton Head Island, and even a coast-to-coast bicycle ride. Don had no children or siblings, making him the last of his line.

Don loved golf, Seinfeld, gold hunting, and all animals. I have no doubt that the thousands of dogs he rescued were there to greet him at the Bridge. A reformed liberal, it's a blessing that he didn't have to continue to witness the complete crushing of our country.

Don's golf buddies will host a Celebration of Life in the fall.
