Timothy O'Brien, 62

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Timothy Andrew O’Brien, age 62, was pleased to hear the words “Well done, my good and faithful servant… Come, share your master’s joy.” He passed away on April 10, 2022, surrounded by loving family, after seven years of treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Son of the late John and Margaret (McGroarty) O’Brien, Tim was a 1978 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School in Pittsfield. He also held an Associate’s Degree in business from Berkshire Community College.

  Tim worked at Carberry Auto Parts for 25 years, until his retirement in 2018. He was deeply committed to his Catholic faith and always eager to welcome families to the St. Elizabeth of Hungary parish community. Tim taught religious education to students of all ages and had a particular passion for teaching adults through the RCIA program. He was a recipient of the Pope Pius X award from the Diocese of Springfield.

Tim is survived by daughters Elizabeth O’Brien (Aaron Nackoul, Owen O’Brien-Garvey), and her brother B.J. Liverseidge; Morgan Michaels, and Amanda Hamel-O’Brien (Joseph Hamel); sisters Nancy O. Slade (Matthew), Mary Fielding (Tom), and Margaret Lenski (Joel); and sisters-in-law Sue O’Brien and Linda DeCiantes. Tim also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including Sean, Christopher, Michael, Michelle, Tom, Bailey, Annie, John, Justin, Jacob, and Andrew. Tim is predeceased by his brother John and twin brother Thomas.



NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Tim O'Brien will be celebrated Tuesday April 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield will be private. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR S WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA will be Monday from 4-7 PM. I read with great sadness the passing of Tim. He was a beautiful man and a wonderful teacher. I did the RCIA with him and started a new path in my life. My thoughts are with you all
