NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John “Jack” Joseph Dayton, 66 died peacefully at his home in North Adams, MA on Friday, March 18, 2022.
He was born in Pittsfield, MA on June 11, 1955, a son of the late John V. Dayton, Jr. and the late Theresa (Laurin) Dayton, both of Pittsfield, MA. He grew up and attended schools in South Florida, graduating from Miami Palmetto Senior High School. Jack settled in the Berkshires in the early 1980’s and attended Berkshire Community College. Jack lived in Pittsfield and Lenox for many years the last several years in North Adams, MA.
Jack worked various jobs in manufacturing, construction and as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He inspired and taught other family members to play the guitar also. He had a sweet kind and gentle nature and loved to spend time with his family especially doting on his nieces and nephews during holidays.
He is survived by his sisters, Andrea M. Parker of Pittsfield, MA, Laurin Dayton Gallagher of Johns Island, SC, Joan E. Dayton of Adams, MA and brothers Dennis M. Dayton of Ipswich, MA and Timothy O. Dayton of Pittsfield, MA. He is also survived by two nephews, Anthony B. Dayton of Pittsfield, MA and Michael J. Dayton of Great Falls, Montana, four nieces, Elizabeth Dayton Dupont of Topsfield, MA, Melissa Ouellette Bamberger of Boulder, Colorado, Sarah R. Diorio of Pittsfield, MA, and the late Danielle M. Diorio of Pittsfield, MA and a growing list of grand nieces and nephews.
