Shirley Jean Lee, 87

Shirley Jean (Godfrey) Lee, 87, of 160 Richview Avenue, North Adams, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.



She was born in North Adams on April 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Law) Godfrey. She attended school in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School. Jean was employed for many years as the executive secretary of Robert C. Sprague, Sr. at Sprague Electric Company in North Adams. After Mr. Sprague left the company, she continued to work as his personal secretary until her retirement.



Jean married the late Howard S. Lee on September 1, 1957, at Our Lady of the Incarnation Church in North Adams. He passed away on November 4, 2005.



Jean spent many memorable times with Howard at their camp in Windsor entertaining friends and family, as well as sharing his love of bowling and snowmobiling. In later years, she enjoyed reading and spending time with people she loved. Jean was a good neighbor and friend with a full and generous heart.



She is survived by her niece and caregiver Deborah Benoit of North Adams, nieces Lisa Samuels of Orlando, Florida, and Susan Coviello of Adams, nephews Timothy Perras of North Adams and Bruce Perras of Las Vegas, Nevada, and great nieces and nephews.



In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters Mabel Benoit, Doris Kennedy and Bertha Arlene Perras.



Funeral Services for Shirley Jean Lee will be celebrated Monday August 30, 2021 at 11am.at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Please wear a mask. The celebration of her life will be live streamed on Flynn Dagnoli Facebook. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested for Berkshire Humane Society or to the Friends at Eleanor Sonini Animal Shelter through the funeral home. Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss. Your Aunt Jean was a very nice woman. She was kind, generous and always willing to help a neighbor. She was there for my parents on more than one occasion, she also shared our pets. Will always remember her as a special neighbor.
