NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  

Elaine Mary Morin, 86, of North Adams, passed away peacefully Friday, August 13, 2021 at the North Adams Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Adams on June 9, 1935, daughter of John Kawa and Mary (Kupiec) Kawa. She attended schools in Adams and was a graduate in 1953 from the former Adams High School. Elaine was employed at retail stores beginning with the Baby Nook, then moving to the former Zayre’s Department Store; she also did book keeping at the Adams Youth Center and the former Sprague Electric Company where she met her husband, Joseph Morin. Elaine enjoyed watching the Red Sox, going to bingo, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends, but raising her son was always her first priority. Elaine leaves behind her loving son Jeffrey Kawa and his wife Stephanie, and her grandson Evan Kawa, of East Greenwich, RI. She also leaves her stepdaughter Julia Morin, her sister Mildred Plankey, and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Morin, her brothers Stanley, Stephen, and John Kawa Jr., and her sister Phyllis Risatti. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm, Monday, August 23, 2021 at the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, in Adams, after which a graveside service and burial will take place at 12:15 pm in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Adams.
