Carmen Anthony “Tony” DeMarco, 76 of North Adams, MA died at Berkshire Medical Center on Saturday, July 17, 2021.Tony was born in North Adams, MA on July 27, 1944, as son of the late Carmen Joseph DeMarco and Dorothy Ada (Knapp) DeMarco. He graduated from Drury High School. Carmen was employed for fifteen years as a draftsman at Yankee Nuclear Power Plant. After retirement he was employed as a driver for Williams College. was a well known certified professional umpire, working baseball, softball and football in the Berkshires. He also volunteered for many local organizations in the Northern Berkshires and was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Tony was a loving and caring man who would give the shirt off his back to help others. His smile was contagious. On any given day, if you asked him why he was so happy, he would reiterate how grateful that he was able to get out of bed and see another day. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he was always sporting a hat to reflect his love for his teams. He always had a joke ready to tell. It was almost expected that it would be one of the first things he said when he saw you. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Whenever he was with them, he had stories to tell, happiness to share, and he lit up the room. Words can’t express how much he meant to every person he met. He will be missed by many.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Kristen Jagiello and her husband Mark of Adams; son Scott DeMarco and his wife Jenna of Florida; 5 grandchildren- Ava Jagiello, Connor Jagiello, Bradley DeMarco, Jonathon DeMarco, and Helen DeMarco; two brothers- Joseph DeMarco and his wife, Rita of North Adams, and David DeMarco and his significant other, Cathy Corbett of Vermont. Tony was predeceased by his sister, Shirley DeMarco-Lyman and brother, Daniel Francis DeMarco.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Carmen "Tony" DeMarco will be celebrated on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home – WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247. Memorial donations are suggested for the Carmen Anthony DeMarco Memorial Fund through the funeral home. Due to the nature of his death masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced. Tony was my Little League coach, and I believe he would remember all his players throughout the years.

I have known Tony since 1960, graduated from Drury with him in 1964. What a great man, saw him at every Drury reunion and he never aged. Always the same wonderful guy. He will be missed by all. My condolences to his family and friends. He was a great man to everyone that he met in life.
