NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Michael Edward Hansen, 74, of North Adams died on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center. Michael was born in North Adams on October 21, 1946 a son of the late Carl Thomas and Anna Josephine (Lopreta) Hansen.
Michael attended McCann and Drury High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam War from 1964 – 1968. Michael was a self employed painter for many years.
Michael, also known as the wild child by his siblings, loved fishing with friends, scratching tickets, his years in Virginia and enjoyed McDonald’s French fries, diet coke, and cookies! He was a simple man, always in a good mood, and could easily grab your attention, with his famous line, “HEY KID”. Michael would give his last dollar to someone in need. He was humble and grateful for any kindness bestowed on him.
Michael leaves his sisters, Pamela J. Wilk and his brother in law, Mark of North Adams, and Patricia A. Burdick of North Adams. He also leaves two brothers, Robert A. Hansen of North Adams and Carl T. Hansen of North Adams and his nieces and nephews including, Matthew, Jillian, and Justin (Brittany) Burdick, and Josh (Tiffanie), Kristen (Shelby), Lukas and Mackenzie Wilk. The family would like to extend a Special thanks to his second family Tom, Robin, and Kayla Roberts, Veteran’s Services, and all of Michael’s nurses.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service to celebrate the life of Michael Hansen will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Southview Cemetery, North Adams with full military honors. Donations may be made to the North Adams Veterans Services through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home – CENTRAL CHAPEL 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247. We are very sad to about your passing Mike. We think of you often since you left us here in lanexa Virginia.
Mike was one of a few that my dog Else liked ,loved, and would listen to mikes commands. I will always miss you and our occasional fishing in Chickohominy Haven. I called you a few times of the year after you moved back to Massachusetts. Because we missed your being here as a true friend. I pray we may meet again someday in our next life. Carl, Bob, Pat, Pam, Matt, Josh, Kristen, Jill& Justin, As I read all these heartfelt tributes to Michael, I realized how much he touched so many in North Adams and beyond. He is the best son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. Rest easy, Mike...I will miss dearly all our chats on sunny days thought the years. As a young child I was frequently at your house.
Michael always made me feel welcome and made me laugh.
