Nelson Joseph Foster Jr., 70, of 2438 Mohawk Trail died yesterday while working at 610 Main St., Williamstown.
Born in North Adams on July 4, 1931, son of Nelson Joseph Foster Sr. and Alice Blanchard Foster, he was a longtime resident of Williamstown and attended schools there, including the former Will-iamstown High School.
Mr. Foster was a self-employed contractor and was most recently employed as a caretaker for the McMahon and O'Mara-Peterson families' properties in Williams-town.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, North Adams Lodge 487.
He and his wife, the former Erma "Sis" Lescarbeau, were married June 14, 1952, in Notre Dame Church in North Adams.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Linda Coolman of Lafayette, Ind., Nancy Cormier and Leslie Thomasson, both of Pittsfield, and Barbara Ciolkowski of Clarksburg; two sons, Nel-son Joseph Foster III and Walter Foster, both of North Adams; two sisters, Roma Nichols of North Adams and Lorraine Marchegiani of Williamstown; 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 7 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be in the spring in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7.
