Lucille Theresa Bessette, 87, of 43 Taft Ave. died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Dec. 22.
Born in Adams on Sept. 26, 1914, daughter of Louis and Roseanna Gamache Bessette, she moved to North Adams with her family when she was 6 and attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School.
She was employed by the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown for 20 years, retiring in 1979. Before that, she worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. for many years.
Miss Bessette was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
She leaves a nephew, Richard L. Lefebvre of North Adams, with whom she made her home, and several other nephews and nieces. A brother, Leo Bessette, and two sisters, Rachael Lefebvre and Anna Dudley, predeceased her.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME in North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Our Lady of Mercy Church through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
