NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Henry Miles Tower, 89, of North Adams, Mass., died Sunday, December 16, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Dixon, Illinois, on December 5, 1929, son of Louis H. and Ellen (Schmall) Tower. He attended schools in Monroe and graduated from the Drury High School. Henry was last employed as a supervisor at Chadbourne International in Williamstown for many years until his retirement. Before that he worked at General Cable Co. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Henry was also a member of the Eagles in North Adams. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, bowling and gardening. He was a founder and member of the former Williamstown Sportsman's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothea Arlene (Bessette) Tower, whom he married on September 15, 1977; three daughters, Patricia M. (William B.) Primmer of Stamford, Vt., Brenda J. Piscioneri of Adams and Sherrie A. Tower of Cheshire; four sons, Stephen H. (Lynne) Tower of Matthews, N.C., Alphonse Phaneuf of Connecticut, and Gordon (Melissa) Tower and Douglas E. Phaneuf, both of Adams; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, including Priscilla Thayer of Readsboro, Vt., and Bethel Alex and Leona Jones, both of Greenfield, Mass.; brother, Harold L. Tower of Adams; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Michele Tower; and two sisters and one brother, including Helen Tower, Shirley Tower Bennett and Kenneth Tower.
Funeral notice: The funeral for Henry Tower will be Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will be private. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
Dot and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Henry was a great guy and I always enjoyed our time working together and our conversations long after that.
