NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Minola Isabell "Nonie" (Smith) Shurtleff, 85, of North Adams, Mass., died Sunday November 26, 2017, at her home.

She was born in Readsboro, Vt., on December 7, 1931, daughter of Lester and Esther (Chilson) Smith.  She attended school in Readsboro.

Minola was a homemaker to her family and was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She attended the First Baptist Church of North Adams.

She was the widow of George Clyde "Ozzie" Shurtleff Sr., who died on March 2, 1989.  

Survivors include four daughters, Susan DiGennaro of Crestview, Fla., Eva Jones of North Adams, and Irene Samson and Ann Bissaillon, both of Adams; two sons, George C. Shurtleff Jr. of Adams and Arthur Shurtleff of Pittsfield; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Thirteen brothers and sisters are deceased.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Nonie Shurtleff will be Friday, December 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m.
