NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Evelyn E. Young, 91, of 69 William St. died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at home.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 5, 1910, daughter of Nelson Albert and Hermine Sweeney Plankey, she attended local schools, including the former Notre Dame Parochial School and the former Houghton School.
A homemaker, Mrs. Young was employed at one time with the former Arnold Print Works.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a member of its Rosary Society.
Her husband, Francis Napoleon Young, whom she married Sept. 7, 1936, in Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, died April 5, 2001.
She leaves three sisters, Rita Sweeney of Williamstown, and Lydia Camadine and Emily Bassett, both of North Adams.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert Francis Young, on Jan. 10, 2000, and a brother, Charles Plankey, on May 30, 1997.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Yong will take place Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis Church Building Fund or to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
