Michael E. Roy, 65

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Michael E. Roy, 65, of North Adams, a longtime North Adams firefighter, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
He was born in North Adams on March 24, 1951, a son of the late George C. Roy and Alyce (Tadiello) Roy. Michael attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1969. He then attended Berkshire Community College and graduated with a degree in Fire Science.
Mr. Roy was a veteran of the North Adams Fire Department, retiring in 1996 with 25 years of loyal service. He was a New York Yankee fan and all sports fan. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mike's passion was spending time with his family, bowling and spending time with family and friends at the family cottage on Lake Champlain.
Survivors include his wife Therese (DiLego) Roy, whom he married August 26, 1995; a daughter, Laurie James and her husband Gary of Pownal, Vt., and a son, Jeffrey Roy, and his wife Trina of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, twins Justin and Brianna Roy, Kaylee Roy, and Leah and Kamryn James; a brother, George C. Roy Jr. and his wife Beth of Tampa, Fla.; an uncle, Rolland Roy of Pownal, Vt., and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral notice: Services to celebrate the life of Michael E. Roy will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, where the North Adams Fire Department will offer honors.
Burial will take place at a later date. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to to North Adams Little League through the Flynn and Dagnoli Funeral Home, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams.
So sorry for your loss. I know Mike all my life, we went to school together and we worked in the fire department together.
