NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dr. Ludwick Raymond Benedetti, 89, of Holyoke, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. Born in North Adams on April 13, 1926, son of Lodovico Carl and Mary Graziola Benedetti, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School in the class of 1944 and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia with the class of 1950. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Forces. Dr. Benedetti practiced optometry in Athol for 27 years until his retirement in 1990. He had first practiced in Orange for 13 years. He was a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometry, the American Optometric Association and the Kiwanis Club of Orange. He leaves a sister, Margaret Davenport of Westboro; a brother, William G. Benedetti of South Portland, Maine, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. FUNERAL NOTICE — A private graveside service for Dr. Benedetti will be held in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Western Mass in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
