Kellie G. Oppenheimer, 44

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Kellie G. Oppenheimer, 44, of Enfield, Conn., formerly of North Adams, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn.

Born in North Adams on Nov. 20, 1970, daughter of Bernard J. Gomeau Sr. of North Adams and the late Joan Matney Gomeau, she graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1988, and from The Elms College in Chicopee. After finishing college, she moved to Maine and later to Enfield to be closer to her family.

Mrs. Oppenheimer was employed with State Farm Insurance in Enfield. She had first owned and operated Joanie's Ice Cream for four years in Enfield. Shortly after, she began working in the Enfield Public Schools. She was also a consultant for Tastefully Simple.

She was a member of Holy Family Church in Enfield and an active soccer mom supporting the Enfield Crushers. She loved her daughters and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her husband, Bruce Oppenheimer, died in 2011.

Besides her father and his companion, Katherine Saltamartini, she leaves her two loving daughters, Karli and Sophia Oppenheimer of Enfield; two stepdaughters, Lyndsey Oppenheimer and Briana Oppenheimer, both of Easthampton; a brother, BJ Gomeau and his wife, Chris, of Enfield; a sister-in-law, Kelli Paradise Gomeau of Warwick, R.I.; four nephews, Brandon Gomeau, Keegan, Killian and Nicholas Gomeau, and a niece, Henley Gomeau, all of whom referred to Kellie as "Umpto." She also leaves many extended Oppenheimer family.

Another brother, Edward M. Gomeau, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Oppenheimber will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield (please meet at church). Committal will follow at Hazardville Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 9, from 3 to 7 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations in her memory may be made to The Karli and Sophia Oppenheimer Trust, c/o Sovereign Bank, 40 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Gomeau family. Kellie was a sweet girl who deserved a better fate in life. Someday you'll look back at Kellie with a smile instead of a tear, and hopefully that day will come soon.
