Nellie Mary Ferris, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Naheela "Nellie Mary" Ferris, 96, of 35 Olds St. died Thursday April 23, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Lorraine Brown of North Adams.

Born in North Adams on April 29, 1918, daughter of Salim and Mabel Williams Simon, she attended Drury High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Ferris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.

She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a member of the Lebanese Social Club.

Her husband, Louis George Ferris, whom she marriedon Sept. 6, 1937, died on June 22, 2005.

Besides her daughter, she leaves another daughter, Madelyn Shanahan of Housatonic; three sons, George L. Ferris and Ronald J. Ferris, both of North Adams, and Robert D. Ferris of Clarksburg; two brothers, Robert Simon of Manassas, Va., and George Simon of North Adams; three sisters, Ann Herbert of Pittsfield, Rose Pause of North Adams, and Lois Shadyac of Vienna, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings Lillian Simon, Pearl Simon and Mary Simon, and by three brothers, Louis Simon, Simon S.G. Simon, Frederick Simon and Marvin Simon.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ferris will be celebrated Wednesday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be private.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Berkshire VNA & Hospice in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals
