NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jeanette Marie Dillon, 86, of 259 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.
Born in Chicopee on Aug. 14, 1928, a daughter of Frank and Minnie Barcomb LaCoy, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School. She trained with college courses in early child development at Springfield College and North Adams State College.
Mrs. Dillon was employed by the Head Start Child Development Program for 19 years in Northern Berkshire. She was awarded the outstanding employee of the year award in 1986, she retired in 1990.
She had first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and later part time at Louison House in Adams, from which she received many awards for her volunteer work.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
Her husband, James F. Dillon, died on Feb. 28, 2008.
She leaves her daughter, Kathleen Phaneuf and her husband, David, of North Adams; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Phaneuf and Jennifer Phaneuf, and a great-grandson, David Trudeau.
Jeanette was predeceased by two sons, James Lavigne and another in infancy. She was also predeceased by her three sisters Marion Mokus, Rita Swenson and Christine Pugliese and four brothers Donald, Francis and Robert LaCoy and Ronald Doyle.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dillon will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14, at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 13, from 5 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
