NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Barbara Jane Coody, 83, of 70 Frederick St. died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at her home.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 26, 1931, daughter of Walter and Irene Jones Richardson, she attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. Coody was primarily a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She also worked as a home health aide.
She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and loved animals.
She and her husband, Lucius Monroe Coody Jr., were married on June 18, 1955.
Besides her husband of 59 years, she leaves a son, Robin Coody and his wife, Debbie Turnbull, of North Adams; two daughters, Deborah Tatro and her husband, Roger, of Rexford, N.Y., and Laurie Coody and her fiance, Steven Boucher, of North Adams; a brother, Donald Richardson of North Adams; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole and Carl Cannady of Westfield, Heidi and Gene Pellerin of Rexford, Jennifer and Marc Chenail of Pittsfield, Katie and James Gulley of Bennington, Vt., and Amy and Adam Garner, Nicholas and Kaley Moulton, Christilyn Moulton, Sarah Moulton, and Cara Moulton, all of North Adams; 13 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Her brother Walter Richardson is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Coody will be private. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
