NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Norman Joseph Thomas, 77, of 288 Houghton St. died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on April 22, 1937, son of Everett Thomas and of Rose Gelinas Thomas Walczak, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Mr. Thomas was last employed as a carpenter, working for many local contractors. Before that, he worked at the former Sprague Electric Co.
He was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed gardening.
He and his wife, the former Rose Marie Sullivan, were married on July 13, 1963.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sisters, Dorothy Pennock and Margaret Kryston, both of North Adams, and Laura Comeau; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters Ida DeGrenier and Lorraine Townes.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Thomas will be celebrated Thursday, Sept. 4, at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date in Clarksburg Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams.
