Alma M. DuPuis, 99

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Alma M. DuPuis, 99, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Mercy Center Personal Care in Dallas, Pa., where she had resided for three years.

Mrs. DuPuis had lived the Berkshires at one time and still has family in the area.

Born in Pawtucket, R.I., to Louis J.G. and Agnes Bissanlon Martelle, she graduated from Pawtucket High School in 1933 and attended Katherine Gibbs School in New York City for two years.

Mrs. DuPuis' first job was as a second secretary to U.S. Rep. Charles Francis Risk, R-R.I., in 1935 in Washington, D.C.

She and her husband of more than 50 years, the late Edmund J. DuPuis, made their home in Foxboro for more than 20 years. They retired to Nokomis, Fla., where they enjoyed the Florida beaches and motor homing. Mr. DuPuis died in 1994.

She had lived with her daughter, Dorothy Bent Graf, in New York and New Jersey, before entering Mercy Center.

Besides her daughters and her husband, Joseph, of Clarks Summit, Pa., she leaves another daughter, Carol Arnold and her husband, David, of Savannah, Tenn.; her four granddaughters, Christine Cullen and her husband, Mark, of Cicero, N.Y., Kathy Annable and her husband, Daniel, of Marcellus, N.Y., Rebecca Fletcher and her husband, Shannon, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and Danielle Jacobs and her husband, Richard, of Marcellus, N.Y.; her grandson, Phillip Arnold of Peaks Island, Maine; and 12 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Private cremation services for Mrs. DuPuis have been entrusted to Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex.
