Thelma L. Kemp, 91

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Thelma Louise Kemp, 91, of North Charleston, S.C., formerly of North Adams, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, in South Carolina.

Born in Greenfield in 1922, she was the daughter of Alfred H. and Lilla J. Patch Moreland.

Mrs. Kemp was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. She was a member of the American Legion.

Her husband, Clifton Elliott Kemp, whom she married Nov. 27, 1952, in Greenfield, died on Jan. 12, 1999.

She leaves three daughters, Nancy Sheldon and her husband, Raymond, Dawn Kemp and Beth Meyer; a son, Clifton Elliott "Sonny" Kemp, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Mrs. Kemp was held in Advent Lutheran Church in North Charleston.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Westlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

I didn't know Lady Marine Kemp but she was so lovely that she made all us former Lady Marines proud. Looking at her picture in uniform, she personified all that we were or were meant to be.
