NBCC to Host 'Back-Packed for Success'

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition is hosting its 12th annual back-to-school event for kids entering kindergarten through 12th grade for Northern Berkshire students.    This includes homeschooled students.    Students will receive a free backpack to fill with school supplies. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Northern Berkshire School Union wrapped up its summer camp last Thursday with what's becoming an annual event: a school community night at Clarksburg School.    That meant a bounce house, music, dunk tank and lots and lots of activities — plus ice cream and hot dogs for dinner.    "Oh, it's fantastic. MCLA Radiologic Technology Maintains 100% Employment

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announced that its Radiologic Technology program continues a 100 percent employment rate for graduates over the last five years.    MCLA became the teach-out partner for Southern Vermont College's (SVC) Radiologic Sciences program in 2019, following SVC's closure.   The Radiologic Technology program has doubled in class size over the last year, from five to 10 students, and is expected to welcome 20 students in next year's class. North Adams Council Passes $65M Borrowing Authorization

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council on Monday unanimously authorized borrowing $65,362,859 to build a new Greylock School for prekindergarten through 2. The Massachusetts School Building Authority will pick up about $41,557,218 of the cost and balance is expected to come from federal energy grants.    Voters will weigh in on Sept. 24 with a ballot vote to exclude the debt from Proposition 2 1/2 limits. Officials say the failure of the vote would mean millions having to be invested in Brayton with no corresponding match by the state.    The 30-year tiered loan for about $20 million is expected to have its highest impact in 2029 when it will add $270 to the
