North Adams Downtown Celebration Set Wednesday01:45PM / Tuesday, August 08, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The city's 26th annual Downtown Celebration is a giant block party on Main Street. The event runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and covers Main, Holden and historic Eagle Street. Rain date is Thursday, Aug.10, but the weather looks good at the moment: partly sunny with highs in the 70s. The yearly street festival brings thousands downtown to celebrate with community, food, shopping and entertainment. Gymnastics Teacher Cited for Voyeurism in Vermont06:51PM / Monday, August 07, 2023 | | Jonathan Girard, owner of J Star Gymnastics in North Adams, pleaded not guilty in Vermont District Court in Barre on Thursday, Aug. 10, to a charge of voyeurism. Girard is accused of filming children in a bathroom at a Waterbury, Vt., gymnastics academy earlier this summer while a visiting coach there between July 10 and 14. His fiancée on July 15 discovered a video of a young teenage girl using the bathroom on an SD card on his computer and at least 20 other clips, according to the Vermont State Police affidavit. But there will definitely be some changes on the City Council with only six incumbents running for re-election in November.
