DALTON, Mass. – Hunter Potash Saturday struck out 11 and allowed no earned runs in pitching the Housatonic River Monsters to a 4-3 win over the North County Kraken in the opening game of the Berkshire Adult Baseball League 20-and-over division Championship Series. The River Monsters can complete the defense of their 2022 title on Sunday at 10 a.m. when they face the Kraken in Game 2 of their best-of-three series at 10 a.m. at Hoosac Valley High School. STAMFORD, Vt. — Actor Susan Sarandon is suing a local contracting company related to work done on her $2 million home. The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Springfield on Thursday and first reported by news service Reuters. She alleges that DeGrenier Contracting and Property Management LLC of Clarksburg, Mass., did not construct the home to the standard expected, that numerous failings and problems were not rectified, and that the owner misrepresented his experience in being able to manage the construction of such a home. Grant money from the Massachusetts Service Alliance and Youth Service America paid for the bins, signs, T-shirts and gloves for the youngsters.  SAVOY, Mass. — Registration is underway for September's Savoy Loop Road Race. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Emma L. Miller Elementary School with proceeds benefiting the school. The 5-mile road race will start at 10 a.m. with a one-mile run run starting shortly after and a kids fun run at about 11:20.
