North Adams Planners Renew Brewery Permit, Ask Legal Opinion on Glamping Changes

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — One long gestating project is expected to be completed this year but another one has been delayed yet again for a legal opinion.   Rising Glass Brewery at 515 Curran Highway was back before the Planning Board on Monday night to renew an expired permit.    Jonathan Spinney of 515 LLC had first applied back in 2018 for a special permit to transform the former Eagles Hall into a brewery, working on a farmer's brewery license, and kitchen. Clarksburg Voters to Elect Town Officers on Tuesday

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Voters on Tuesday will determine races on the Select Board and School Committee.   The town annual election is from noon to 7 p.m. at the Community Center. Seats up for a election are Select Board, School Committee, Board of Health, library trustee and War Memorial, one seat each for three years; moderator and tree warden, each for one year; and a five-year seat on the Planning Board.    The three candidates for Select Board discussed their visions and qualifications last Monday at a forum sponsored by the Council on Aging at the Community Center.    Town Moderator Ronald Boucher fielded questions for the Colton Andrews, Bryana Malloy and

PITTSFIELD, Mass. –  The CIAO Soccer Hall of Fame induction and scholarship banquet and presentations were held on Thursday, May 9, at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield.   The 2024 inductees were honored and 21 scholarships of $1,000 each were presented.   Committee Chairmen Al Belanger and Patrick West introduced inductees and scholarship winners at the event. Berkshire Communities Awarded FY25 Chapter 90 Funds

BOSTON — Gov. Maura Healey signed legislation at an event in Melrose which authorizes $200 million for fiscal year 2025 to fund bridge and road maintenance and other infrastructure projects in municipalities across the state under the Chapter 90 program In addition, the legislation will fund a total of $175 million more for six transportation infrastructure grant programs.    The Chapter 90 program provides municipalities with an annual funding source for improvements to and investments in local transportation networks. Scholarship Offered to BArT Graduates

Clarksburg FinCom, Select Board Agree on $1.9M Town Operating Budget

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town is looking at an operating budget of $1,859,413 for fiscal 2025, down a percent from this year largely because of debt falling off.   Town officials are projecting a total budget at about $5.1 million, however, the School Committee is not expected to approve a school budget for two more weeks so no final number has been determined.   Town officials said they've asked the school budget to come in at a 2 percent increase.
