NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — From Tuesday, June 1 to Thursday, June 17, 2021, the MCLA Institute for the Arts and Humanities (MCLA-IAH) will host its annual Summer Symposium, a series of four events on the theme of accountability. The series will close on June 17 from 2-4 p.m. EST with an experiential poetry workshop offered by The Mastheads, led by architect Tessa Kelly and poet Sarah Trudgeon. The workshop will launch INSCAPES, a yearlong regional campaign designed to highlight the creativity of all residents across the Berkshires through public poetry prompts and text-based art installations. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Matt Shilling drove in a run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to complete a comeback for the North Adams SteepleCats, who tied North Shore, 4-4, in the Cats' home opener on Saturday. It marked the first home game since the 2019 season for the SteepleCats, who saw their entire 2020 season wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. Crude oil spiked higher, nearing almost $70 a barrel (bbl.), pulling energy stocks along with it. Energy traders were heartened by the latest OPEC meeting. This course focuses on important concepts and stages in considering revenue-producing programs in a nonprofit setting to add financial stability. Students are involved in basic data gathering and analysis and organize their conclusions in a business plan for the enterprise effort. The graduation had been set for Joe Wolfe Field but a last-minute change because of weather had them front and center at their alma mater to receive their diplomas. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
