North Adams Edward Jones Office Supports Toys for Tots Drive11:11AM / Monday, October 31, 2022 | | Rob Adams, the local Edward Jones financial advisor, is supporting the Berkshire County Toys for Tots program by using his office as a drop-off location for this year's toy drive. Residents may help needy children in the area by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy to the office, 71 Main Street, North Adams, during regular business hours beginning Oct. 17 through Dec. 5. Monetary gifts cannot be accepted. "With the holiday season around the corner, we are all getting ready for the festivities," Adams said. MCLA Information Sessions for Continuing Education, Graduate Programs 08:25AM / Monday, October 31, 2022 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Division of Graduate & Continuing Education (DGCE) will host information sessions for those interested in completing a Bachelor's Degree or pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The 30-minute information sessions will be available in person and online in North Adams and Pittsfield. The community is invited to the Nov. 1 information session at 5 p.m. remotely online only, Nov. 8 at 12 p.m. in Pittsfield at 66 Allen St., and Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. in North Adams, MCLA Eldridge Hall room 206, with optional remote registration for the latter two sessions. Veteran Spotlight: Army Lt. Col. Dorothy CourtemancheBy Wayne Soares, Special to iBerkshires 04:31PM / Sunday, October 30, 2022 | | MASHPEE, Mass. — Dorothy "Dot" Courtemanche served her country in the Army as a nurse. She retired a lieutenant colonel after a marvelous 23-year career with assignments at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Cutler Army Hospital in Ayer, Walter Reed in Washington, D.C., and Fort Meade in Maryland. Born in Dedham, she did her basic training at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga., which received all orthopedic Vietnam War combat injuries. Lt. Col. Courtemanche received her first assignment in Seoul, South Korea, at the 121st Evacuation Hospital. "It was unbearably hot in the summer and cold in the winter. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |
Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
