Clarksburg Pavilion Getting New RoofBy Tammy Daniels, iBerkshires Staff 05:30PM / Thursday, October 13, 2022 | | CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town has found a way to complete repairs on the pavilion at the town field by utilizing McCann Technical School. The option for using McCann students had been raised at a prior meeting after bids to replace the roof on the structure came in over cost. "We've gone to bid three or four times and each time we go out to bid they give us a bid for a product we didn't ask for," said Town Administrator Carl McKinney in updating the Select Board on Wednesday. North Adams Library Hosting Home Movie Showings08:38AM / Thursday, October 13, 2022 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The North Adams Public Library will host a Home Movie Day on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 7 to 10 p.m. Home Movie Day is an annual celebration of the historical and cultural value of amateur film. SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. — After a final vote from its entire board on Tuesday, the Mohawk Trail Woodlands Partnership has changed its name to the Woodlands Partnership of Northwest Massachusetts. "The background of the name change is that there have been a number of comments over the past several years by members of the board about the appropriation of the name 'Mohawk Trail' as it applied to our public body," said board Chair Henry Art. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — After two years of remote and hybrid learning, Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System tests at McCann Technical School have kept up with pre-pandemic numbers. Ninety-four percent of students at McCann are either partially or fully meeting expectations in mathematics and English language arts. For science, technology and engineering, 88 percent of students fully or partly met expectations. "The bottom line is, our kids are passing the MCAS at a higher rate than the state average," said Principal Justin Kratz. Big Y Program Will Raise Money For Breast Cancer Support Groups01:02PM / Tuesday, October 11, 2022 | | SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — In order to continue to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, all Big Y Supermarkets will be raising funds for 31 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Students in McCann Technical School's Culinary Arts Department opened the McCann Tea Room for its 61st year on Thursday morning, with plans to open the kitchen several more times throughout October, November and December. The tea room operates on select days inside the school from 10:45 a.m. to noon each semester. Students serve a small menu, currently offering three appetizers, a daily dessert and two choices each for salads, sandwiches and entrees.
