North Adams Council OKs Zoning, Earlier VotingBy Tammy Daniels, iBerkshires Staff 05:42AM / Wednesday, October 11, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council on Tuesday delayed an extensive rewrite of the city's taxi ordinance but moved forward on several other ordinance changes and lengthened the time for voting on election day. The council approved to start voting in the city election two hours earlier, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Council President Lisa Blackmer brought up the change, saying a number of citizens had spoken to her about not being able to vote before going to work. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Approximately 75 people braved the wind and rain Saturday to attend the Rally for Recovery — a resource fair, speakers' forum and standout. The goal of the annual event, previously Voices for Recovery, is to bring awareness of the struggles to overcome addiction, to celebrate those in recovery and to provide inspiration for others on the path to recovery. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A bronze memorial to a former mayor once thought lost to the ages has found a permanent home at City Hall. Two great-grandsons of Mayor William Kirk Greer traveled to the city on Monday for the unveiling of the plaque on a column outside City Hall. "History is very important to us here in North Adams," said Mayor Jennifer Macksey. "So we're certainly delighted to have an opportunity to restore this." City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
