MassDEP Issues Air Quality Alert for Berkshires, WMass01:27PM / Monday, July 17, 2023 | | BOSTON — The state Department of Environmental Protection is again warning of reduced air quality Monday afternoon because of the ongoing wildfires in Canada. An advisory is in effect through midnight Tuesday for Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, and Worcester counties. The agency is advising people in sensitive groups to reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion, take more breaks, do less intense activities, follow asthma action plans, and keep quick relief medicine handy. Lenox Soccer Program Seeks Newcomers from Pre-K to Fourth GradeCommunity submission, 06:36AM / Monday, July 17, 2023 | | LENOX, Mass. -- Beginning soccer players in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are welcome to join the Mighty Kickers program this fall. The development program is open to children from any community. Sessnions are held Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lenox Memorial Middle and High School from Sept. 9 through Oct. 21, except for Oct. 7. The Northern Berkshire Sports Academy hosted its inaugural HoopFest 3-on-3 tournament at the Ashland Street venue, chosen when it became clear the weekend’s weather would make things problematic on the outdoor courts at the Noel Field Athletic Complex. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – North Adams SteepleCats Kyle Hannon and Samuel Tackett Sunday were named starters for next weekend’s New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game. Hannon got the nod to start for the NECBL Western Division at third base. The Penn State senior is hitting .282 in 29 games this summer. He has two home runs, seven doubles and 10 RBIs. Tackett will start at third base on Sunday, July 23, at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass. This summer, he is hitting .268 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs, both high on the team.
