Brian McCreary, 33, of North Adams was arrested near Springfield on Thursday by agents from the FBI's Boston bureau. McCreary is facing initial charges of two counts of entering a restricted building or grounds, and three counts of violent entry and disorderly conduct. BOSTON — Occupancy levels for restaurants will be raised to 40 percent beginning Monday, Feb. 8, but informal gathering limits will remain in place for now. The stay-at-home advisory and early closures regulation was lifted two weeks ago as cases and hospitalizations had trended downward. Gov. Charlie Baker said the restrictions put in place over the past couple months had helped to reduce the spike in cases seen over the holiday season. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Berkshire Bank Foundation has awarded MCLA $20,000 to fund the Berkshire Bank STEM Academy, which accepts up to 20 incoming first-year students enrolled in a STEM major or who have expressed interest in STEM fields. According to a press release, the five day program is designed to introduce incoming students to careers in STEM. Students will network with STEM faculty, students, and staff in the interest of developing a deeper relationship with those involved in STEM careers in the Berkshires.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — PITTSFIELD, Mass. The Berkshire Regional Planning Authority will enforce new mask regulations per the Center for Disease Control and federal law. The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority will: board only people who wear masks; instruct people that wearing a mask is a requirement of federal law and that not complying with the requirement is a violation of federal law; monitor for any person who is not wearing a mask and seek compliance from such a person; at the earliest safe opportunity, disembark any person who refuses to comply; and notify people of the requirement to make sure they aware of and comply with the requirement to wear a mask. "Burn Awareness Week is an opportunity for fire, health, and medical professionals to review some simple safety steps people can take to prevent burn injuries at home, at work, and outdoors," State Fire Marshal Peter J. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Public space for art — and where that art may have the most impact — are among the priorities being laid out in the city's public arts master plan. The Public Arts Commission began the process last year of developing a plan that aligns with the city's master plan. The vision sees public art as part of the community's identity as an "arts destination and center for creativity" in terms of culture, community, economy and design. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
Secor contacted O'Neill who was excited and surprised at winning. "No, I'm not kidding," Secor assured her
