North Adams Man Sentenced To State Prison for Rape, Assault 03:40PM / Monday, October 20, 2025 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Friday, Oct. 17 Aaron Shepperd, 37 of North Adams, pleaded guilty to the following charges: 3 counts of Rape of a Child with Force 1 count of Indecent Assault and Battery of a Child Under 14 1 Count of Indecent Assault and Battery of a Child Over 14 Shepperd was sentenced to 8 to 10 years in State Prison. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Childcare of the Berkshires opened their new StoryWalk, located on the Born Learning Trail, on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Toddlers and parents in the local toddler play group at the center were in attendance to help cut the ribbon. The StoryWalk is part of the center's Born Learning Trail, which was installed in 2018 with the help of Berkshire United Way. Situated along the path, this new StoryWalk features the book from MountainOne, "How to Climb a Mountain." MountainOne partnered with Childcare of the Berkshires to help install the StoryWalk. STAMFORD, Vt. — Conner Caron, 20, of North Adams, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon in Stamford, Vt., according to Vermont State Police. The Bennington Banner reported that troopers from the Shaftsbury barracks were dispatched to the scene on VT Route 100 near Robillard Road around 3:47 p.m. Police reported that a preliminary investigation indicated that a 2018 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Rita Bolognani of North Adams, was preparing to enter Vermont Route 100 from a side road connecting Robillard Road and VT Route 100.
