The porch collapsed on 116 Church several years ago. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The state Land Court in February finalized the city's tax taking of four properties including the brick Church Street mansions. The prestigious pair of Queen Anne mansions had been owned by Franklin E. Perras Jr., who died in 2017 at age 79. The properties had been in court for four years as attempts were made repeatedly to find Perras' heirs, including a son, Christopher. According to court filings, Christopher reportedly died in 2013 but his place of death is unknown, as is the location (or existence) of two grandchildren listed in Perras' 0 Comments

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will host its 23rd annual Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) on April 24. The conference is intended to acknowledge students' academic work. This year's keynote speaker is MCLA alumnus Bentley S. Munsell '15, a registered nurse and nursing leader who advocates for social justice and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in healthcare. Munsell, who identifies as a queer, transgender man, has been involved in advocating for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in healthcare since 2016. FLORIDA, Mass. — The Blue Vista Motor Lodge is still bringing hospitality to the town of Florida — even 100 years, many owners, names, and renovations later. "When we were working on renovation plans, we found a postcard online from 1923 from the Whitcomb Summit Motor Lodge so that's kind of exciting that for over 100 years, people have been coming here and I think you can see why," owner Stella Downie said.  BOSTON — Bonita Oteri served her country for 17 years in the Army, retiring with the rank of major. In a military career that was built on the foundation of character, integrity, respect and humility, she served from 1979 to 1996. As a cadet at Northeastern University, her ROTC basic training was done at Fort Bragg, N.C.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Middle school students from around Region 1 displayed their science projects at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Wednesday. More than 50 projects showcased a wide range of topics students were interested to test and learn from, including how energy drinks affect your heart rate, wind energy efficiency, water filtering, and more. Hoosac Valley Middle School eighth-grader Dylan Clark-Slattery showed how music may affect a person's heart rate. He said he wanted to test this solution after his grandfather survived a heart attack.  STAMFORD, Vt. — The Stamford Community Library will host a presentation titled "Books, Buddhas, and Buns: Three Trips to China" on Thursday, April 24, at 6:00 p.m. The one-hour program will be presented by Stamford resident Caroline Burch. Police are looking for a tan or gold sedan which had reportedly been at the intersection of State Street and Main when the passenger or driver fired out the window at another vehicle.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — One of Tourists' new model cabins was approved for construction on the Blackinton Mansion property this week. Tourists had pivoted to a cabin production facility in the Blackinton Mill when financing to transform it into a hotel fell through. The Planning Board approved permitting for the venture in January and the development of the "working" model on Monday. Partner Eric Kerns said the company's received more than 160 inquiries on cabins, signed up three buyers and is negotiating with six more.
