Golfers Sought for Mike Deep Memorial TournamentCommunity submission, 12:33PM / Wednesday, April 30, 2025 | |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Thursday, May 1, is the deadline to register to play in the Mike Deep Memorial Tournament, scheduled for Juen 7 at Waubeeka Golf Links. The tournament is being held to raise funds for a memorial bench at the course in Deep's honor and to benefit the Mike Deep Memorial Scholarship fund, which supports students from McCann Tech, Drury and Mount Greyloock. The cost for a team of four is $175 per person. The event will feature lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with a scramble format. There will be a 50/50 raffle at the event. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Adams Public Schools is offering three postgraduate scholarship funds for college students who graduated from Drury High School and are currently enrolled in a four-year college. The application deadline for all scholarships is June 1st. Applicants require a Google account to apply online and submit their transcript electronically. The available scholarships are: The Charles & Olivina Perron Memorial Scholarship: Open to any college student attending a four-year college. The Mortimer P. Article 13 reads: "To see if Town will rescind the vote taken under Article 1 of the May 1,2017 Annual Town Meeting authorizing the demolition of the old Dalton High School and the sale of the property for the redevelopment for houses in accordance with the Zoning By-Laws of the Town at this site; or take any other action in relation thereto."  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Musicians Mary Ann Palermo and Dave Smith will present a live performance of their recently released album, "In the Night," on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The event will take place at Studio 9, located on the Porches Inn campus at 18 Viazie Street in North Adams. "In the Night," released in late 2024 by Averosa Records, features Palermo's vocals and Smith's Steinway grand piano interpretations of jazz standards and lesser-known classics. Village Pizza owner Christina Nicholas took to Facebook to announce the closure with an emotional goodbye, explaining that medical issues were forcing her hand. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The state Land Court in February finalized the city's tax taking of four properties including the brick Church Street mansions. The prestigious pair of Queen Anne mansions had been owned by Franklin E. Perras Jr., who died in 2017 at age 79. The properties had been in court for four years as attempts were made repeatedly to find Perras' heirs, including a son, Christopher. The conference is intended to acknowledge students' academic work. This year's keynote speaker is MCLA alumnus Bentley S. Munsell '15, a registered nurse and nursing leader who advocates for social justice and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in healthcare.
