To the Editor: Mayor Macksey is a leader of integrity with strong commitment to North Adams. I've known her for decades — her grandmother and mine were sisters. I was so proud of her when took decisive action to stop the harmful logging project on Notch Road. She saw the project's flaws. She put the tourist and habitat value of an unspoiled forest destination at the foot of Greylock as a priority. I hope you'll join in support her for another term. There's lots of work to be done. Letter: Mayor Macksey Deserves Our VoteLetter to the Editor, 06:30PM / Saturday, November 01, 2025
To the Editor:
This November, the North Adams voters have big decisions to make. We have several new, enthusiastic candidates for City Council with diverse areas of focus and the desire to serve the city as it moves forward. It's wonderful to have a choice among so many qualified individuals.
We also have a challenger for the mayor's office: one who speaks about transparency and the need for change. Mr. Berglund has only lived in North Adams for about two years.According to his resume on LinkedIn, he's held various positions as a sales representative. He has no management experience to lead a small city's government and no financial experience to qualify him to deal with its budget. What he

The update had been requested by Councilor Andrew Fitch, after hearing concerns from residents about the quality of the water, a perceived lack of information, and the statewide drought. "I think he does great work. He's also a community member, so he drinks our water he's overseeing," he said of the commissioner. Lescarbeau 0 Comments Read More >> |
Letter: Macksey Is a Proven LeaderLetter to the Editor, 04:00PM / Friday, October 31, 2025
To the Editor: I am proud to support the re-election of Mayor Macksey. I have known Mayor Macksey for more than 20 years and I have had the pleasure of working closely with her and seeing firsthand her leadership for North Adams. Mayor Macksey is special because she truly cares about people. Her values are founded on compassion, and that comes through when you see her supporting local youth sports, rebuilding our senior center, and ensuring that our schools have everything our community can muster. She has remained close to the community as a mayor, but more importantly, as a neighbor, mentor, and friend. Mayor Macksey does not shy away from big challenges; she confronts them head-on. The
