BCC and BRPC Offer Free 'Choke Saver' Training Certification

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —Berkshire Community College (BCC) and Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) will offer a free Choke Saver Training class offered on various dates in several locations throughout Berkshire County.     The 75-minute class provides participants with a two-year certification.    Local businesses, such as restaurants, that are required to have Choke Safe certified individuals on site are particularly encouraged to participate. M&T Bank Contributes to SVHC's Vision 2020 Campaign

BENNINGTON, Vt. — The Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) Foundation accepted a $25,000 donation from the M&T Bank Charitable Foundation last week.    The contribution will help fund Vision 2020, A Decade of Transformation Capital Campaign, the hospital's largest project in more than 30 years. The funds will help enhance the emergency and cancer care services available to residents regionwide.   "Southwestern Vermont Health Care is more than a medical and health resource in southwestern Vermont," said M & T Senior Vice President John A. Vermont Watershed Grant Program Accepting Applications

MONTPELIER, Vt. — The 2023 Vermont Watershed Grants Program is now accepting applications for projects that protect, restore and enhance the state's lakes, streams, rivers, and ponds, including Vermonters' ability to understand and enjoy these treasures.     Applications are due no later than Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023.   Program grants are available to municipalities, local and regional government agencies, sporting clubs, non-profit organizations, and water-related citizen groups.  Projects that seek to directly protect or restore fish and aquatic wildlife habitat are strongly encouraged.     Examples of past funded projects include

Clarksburg Boards Discuss School Renovation Needs

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — In a joint meeting with the Select Board and the Americans with Disabilities Act Commission, the School Committee discussed building renovation needs. 

 

The most significant upcoming renovation is the installation of a chair lift, for ADA compliance. The lift will allow access from the main floor to the lower level of the split-level school, including the cafeteria, gymnasium and playground.

MCLA Leadership Academy Applications Open

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — MCLA's Leadership Academy, a postgraduate program for educators seeking administrator licensure, will host a series of information sessions between January and March for prospective students.    Applications will be accepted through April 15 and information sessions are scheduled in person and remotely this winter.
