It only takes about 10-15 minutes each week to alert USDA of the crop situation in your county using the Internet report form. MCLA Announces Nursing Bachelor's Degree Program

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will launch a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for the fall 2023 semester.    This will be the first BSN program in Berkshire County, and the only BSN program within an hour's drive in the rural tri-state corner of Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York. North Adams Commission Passes on River Street Parking Ban

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Traffic Commission is holding off on any changes to parking along River Street near the Corner Store.    The commission had received a letter from resident Nancy Bullett and several phone calls from residents about congestion specifically between Holden and North Holden streets caused by cars parked along River Street.   "The way the cars were parked right up to the corner and with the high, like the SUVs, and that [drivers turning out of  North Holden] really couldn't see oncoming traffic," Chair MaryAnn King told the commission on March 8. Easter Bunny Will Hop on the Hoosac Valley Train Rides

ADAMS, Mass. — For two weekends Saturday, March 25, Sunday, March 26, Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, the Hoosac Valley Train Ride will be running their Easter Bunny Hop Trains.

The trains will depart at noon, 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday running from Adams and returning to Adams. 

Tim Doherty of the Hoosac Valley Train Ride said the Easter Bunny Hop trains are returning because of the popularity of last year’s trains.

Haley Leads MCLA Men's Lacrosse to League Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The school district is working on data-driven literacy efforts to create proficient readers.   "Literacy is critical to the academic achievement of all of our students, and it's a key factor in determining the success of our students," Kimberlee Chappell told the School Committee last week. Vermont Public Hearings on Deer and Moose

MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board will hold public hearings on deer and moose management for 2023 on March 20, 23 and 24.    The hearings will include results of Vermont's 2022 deer seasons and prospects for deer hunting next fall as well as an opportunity for people to provide their observations and opinions about the current status of the deer herd.    The hearings will also include a review of the 2022 moose hunting seasons and an opportunity for the public to provide feedback on the number of moose permits recommended for 2023.   The three in-person hearings will begin at 6:30 p.m. at

MCLA Softball Picks Up Second Win

NAPLES, Fla. -- Kristie Zator went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples Thursday to lead the MCLA softball team to a 10-6 win over SUNY-Delhi.   Hailey Peabody hit a two-run home run, and Hoosac Valley graduate Abby Bird hit a pinch-hit single.   Sarah Williams struck out three and allowed three earned runs in seven innings to earn the win.   The Trailblazers Thursday also dropped a 6-2 decision to William Patterson.   MCLA (2-8) goes to Albertus Magnus for a double-header on March 25.
