Berkshire Athenaeum's 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten08:00AM / Thursday, January 04, 2024 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Families with young children are invited to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield's Public Library. The Library will host a launch party on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, from 10:30 am to noon for families with children ages 0–5. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a free nationwide initiative encouraging regular reading habits in families with children five and under. Carpenter Breaks School Assist Record at Framingham StateiBerkshires.com Sports, 06:16AM / Thursday, January 04, 2024 | | Framingham State senior point guard Gwendolyn Carpenter last month broke the all time assist record at the school. Her 466th career assist came in a win over Curry College on Dec. 9, breaking a 5-year-old school record. Carpenter was averaging more than seven assists per game going into Wednesday's home game against Westfield State. She also led the Rams (11-1) in minutes played, averaging 36.8 minutes per contest and had scored 9.4 points per game. Carpenter is no stranger to breaking records.
