Drury Biannual End-of-semester Showcase

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On behalf of the Drury Portrait of a Graduate Student Team and Drury staff, North Adams Public Schools families and community members are invited to attend Drury High School’s biannual End of Semester Showcase and Expo taking place on June 7 from 10:55 am-12:55 pm at the school.    The showcase will offer audiences an understanding of what Drury students have learned during their second semester courses and the types of academic content they have explored. McCann Postsecondary Graduates 'Battle Tested'

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Adams Public Schools will celebrate "Walk to School Day," with students, parents, teachers, administrators and local "celebrities," on Wednesday, June 5.    According to a press release, "Walk to School" events work to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, alleviating traffic congestion, concern for the environment and building connections between families, schools and the broader community.   There will be opportunities to walk with "walking school buses." Nearly 100 Compete in Berkshire Pride 5K

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Jay Santangelo of Lenox was the top nonbinary runner at the Berkshire Pride 5K on Sunday.   Santangelo covered the 5-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 14.53 seconds to place 16th overall among 94 finishers.   Pittsfield's Cam LaFerriere was the overall winner in 22.45.72, a 7:19 mile pace.   LaFerriere finished 24 seconds ahead of Canaan, N.Y.'s, Thomas Salaatte in second place (23:09.52).   The top woman in the field was Williamstown's Maya Filson, who placed seventh overall with a time of 24:09.06.   Full results are available on the Berkshire Running Center's website.

North Adams Native Wins Sports Emmy for 'Toy Story' Production

Alison Cellana, a Drury High graduate, says the Emmy was heavier than she expected. Cellana is an animator at ESPN.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— North Adams native Alison Cellana was part of an ESPN team that produced "Toy Story Funday Football," a production that clinched three Emmys at the 2024 Sports Emmys Awards.    "Honestly, it was a bit of a dream come true for me," Cellana said about the award ceremony that took place on May 21. MCLA's Gallery 51 to Debut 'MIGRITUDE' Exhibition

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — In collaboration with the Studios at MASS MoCA and The Berkshire Immigrant Center's Iris Residency, MCLA's Gallery 51 will open the "MIGRITUDE" exhibition next month.   "MIGRITUDE" will be on view from June 7 to July 14 with an opening reception on June 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. featuring live music and refreshments.   In 2023, the Studios at MASS MoCA and The Berkshire Immigrant Center started the Iris Residency to support artists in Western or Central Massachusetts who are born outside the U.S. or identify as first or second-generation Americans. Valedictorian, Salutatorian Named for McCann Class of 2024

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — McCann Technical School Principal Justin Kratz announces Amy Lynn Harrington as valedictorian and Svea-Marie Meaghan Lawson as salutatorian for the graduating class of 2024.   Both students will graduate from McCann with high honors on Wednesday, June 5, at 7 p.m. in the Amsler Campus Center at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.    Harrington, daughter of Leigh Ugdah, is a senior in the Information Technology program. She is the recipient of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent's Award for Academic Excellence, a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, numerous undergraduate awards and is first in her class with a 4.42

Tamarack Hollow Annual Boreal Forest Bird Walk

Clarksburg OKs $5.1M Budget; Moves CPA Adoption Forward

Newly elected Moderator Seth Alexander kept the meeting moving.  CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The annual town meeting sped through most of the warrant on Wednesday night, swiftly passing a total budget of $5.1 million for fiscal 2025 with no comments.    Close to 70 voters at Clarksburg School also moved adoption of the state's Community Preservation Act to the November ballot after a lot of questions in trying to understand the scope of the act.    The town operating budget is $1,767,759, down $113,995 largely because of debt falling off.
