North Adams Road Closures for Emergency Response Drill

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Church Street will be closed from Hodges Cross Road to West Shaft Road on Thursday for an emergency drill at Drury High School.    North Adams Public Schools, in partnership with the Department of Public Safety and Northern Berkshire EMS, will conduct a full-scale, multi-agency emergency coordination drill to advance emergency planning and interagency collaboration.   That section of Church Street will be closed starting at 12:30 p.m. and is projected to re-open no later than 4 p.m.   Residents are encouraged to avoid the area around Drury High School on Thursday afternoon unless completely necessary. More than 80 Participate in Hoosic River Run/Walk

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Pittsfield’s Simeon Mercier and Kelly Maginnis were the top male and female finishers in the inaugural Hoosic River Run on Saturday at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.   Mercier clocked a 5-kilometer time of 20 minutes, 12.65 seconds to finish 49 seconds ahead of the field. North Adams' Greylock School Project Estimated $1M Under Budget

Accent color choices for the interior.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Greylock School budget is running about $1 million under budget as of the submission of 60 percent design documents.    Last year's funding agreement with the Massachusetts School Building Authority estimated the cost of the building at $53,405,500, the majority of the $65.4 million project. (No funds have been borrowed for the project yet.)   Last month, the School Building Committee learned the estimate submitted to the MSBA with the 60 percent construction documents was at $52,263,300.   This figure includes screening for the mechanicals on the roof of the new school, an element that

Post 125 Juniors Walk Off Win over Westfield

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Carson Dix hit a one-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday to lift the North Adams Post 125 Juniors to a 17-16 win over Westfield in American Legion Baseball at Joe Wolfe Field.   The hosts rallied for five runs to erase a 16-12 deficit and outslug Westfield Post 124.   Patrick Holland went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles to lead a 13-hit attack for North Adams.   One of his doubles started the winning rally with one out in the seventh.   Maddox Cooke, Mason Fierro and Owen KoaMaya each had a pair of hits in the win.   Dix, Fierro and Lucas Hamilton split time on the mound.   North Adams (4-2) hosts East Longmeadow Post

MYSTIC, Conn. -- Eric Cha drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday as the Mystic Schooners beat North Adams, 6-5, in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.   Robert Stang homered and drove in three runs for North Adams, which got 4 and two-thirds innings of one-run relief from Dawson Montesa.   The SteepleCats (3-9) are home against Keene, N.H., on Wednesday.

Jazzmeia Horn to Perform at Mass MoCA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Multi-award winning vocalist Jazzmeia Horn is scheduled to perform at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's Hunter Center on Saturday, June 28, at 8 p.m.

The performance will feature the group Black Nile.

This event is part of Mass MoCA's ongoing series showcasing contemporary jazz artists. Tickets are available for $29 in advance, $39 during the week of the performance, and $59 for preferred seating. Members will receive a 10 percent discount on tickets.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass — State Cafe has opened at 90 Main St.   State Cafe, a pop-up of State Food and Drink from Greylock Works, recently opened on Main Street, offering Vietnamese cuisine and beverages.   The pop-up cafe opened last summer as 328North and plans to remain open until September. It is offering similar fare, including Vietnamese-inspired dishes like banh mi sandwiches and noodle or rice bowls with a variety vegetables.   "We grow a lot of the food. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Martha's Vineyard Sharks scored four runs in the top of the ninth to erase a three-run deficit and earn a 6-5 win over North Adams in the New England Collegiate Baseball League on Saturday.   Jackson Miller went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs for the Sharks.   North Adams got five strong innings on the mound from starter Ashton Chronister, who struck out six and did not allow an earned run.   Williamstown's Joshua Polumbo gave up one run in one inning on the mound for the 'Cats.   North Adams (3-7) hosts the Upper Valley Nighthawks on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
