The US National Weather Service has released a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 pm Tuesday, Feb. 7, morning to 1 am Wednesday morning. Expect mixed precipitation with snow and sleet accumulation of up to one inch. Ice accumulation should be a light glaze. Precipitation will start as a mix of snow and rain, transitioning into sleet mixing with freezing rain. Precipitation will taper off into a drizzle towards midnight Tuesday. Plan for slippery road conditions Temperatures will be warmer in the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, Feb. 9, Accuweather predicts some snow without a significant accumulation. No Gilded Gramaphone This Year Local hopes were high that Pittsfield native Matt Cusson would bring home a Grammy on Sunday but it was not to be. Cusson had been nominated for his arrangement of the Bee Gees' "How Deep Is Your Love" for a cappella group Kings Return. He lost to John Beasley, who was nominated for his arrangement of Charlie Parker's "Scrapple from the Apple."  NORTH ADAMS Mass. — The Northern Berkshire veteran community acknowledged the "Four Chaplains," marking the 80th anniversary of their heroics and sacrifice during the sinking of the SS Dorchester during World War II. Dozens gathered in the American Legion ON Sunday to pay tribute to the four Army chaplains who who died rescuing civilian and military personnel as SS Dorchester, an American troop ship, sank on Feb. 3, 1943 "This service is a tribute to those courageous chaplains and the 672 brave young men who lost their lives on that fateful night," said American Legion Post 125 Commander Mitchell Kiel. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Clarksburg Elementary School hopes to provide more student intervention with the district's Student Opportunity Act plan. Tara Barnes, director of pupil services for the Northern Berkshire School Union, spoke with the committee about the plan, which the department of elementary and secondary education requires each district to do. The goal is for districts to provide evidence-based programming for struggling student groups. "Ultimately, you have to approve the plan that we submit as a district in an official meeting.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Well over a hundred people filled the basketball court at the Armory on Saturday to see the unveiling of a mural commissioned by the North Adams Youth Basketball League, honoring the history of the community and the building itself.
"This has morphed into something way bigger than the initial thought," said NAYBL board member Mark Moulton, who presented the finished mural to the crowd Saturday afternoon.
The mural honors six people whom Moulton said contributed to the league and youth sports in North Adams: state Rep. and former Mayor John Barrett III, Bernard "Bucky" Bullett, John Gaudreau, Caleb Jacobbe, Jim Shaker and Gene Wein. Local

This drone image taken by Nick Mantello in 2017 shows how the interior of the mill is gone. A concrete pad was poured along the north side and steel struts put in place to stabilize the wall. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The sidewalk is once again closed on the south side of Union Street along the historic Hoosac Mill because of falling bricks. The century-old mill had a catastrophic roof collapse more than a decade ago, caused by excessive snow load, and the interior had to be gutted and the walls fortified.
