 PITTSFIELD, Mass.— Almost ten "No Kings" rallies will take place around Berkshire County on Saturday to oppose actions taken by the Trump Administration. On Wednesday, organizers gathered in front of the Silvio O. Conte Federal Building to discuss why they will be protesting. Community members said they were concerned about Immigration and Customs Enforcement's deployment into cities, threats to health insurance and education, and preserving the nation's civil rights, among other issues. Some of those funds could be directed to the new trust, which does not yet exist.  Empty nip bottles are littered around the city. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A privately sponsored redemption initiative for nip bottles has the Public Safety Committee postponing any recommendations on a ban. Mayor Jennifer Macksey and Police Chief Mark Bailey had asked the City Council last month to consider prohibiting sales of the diminutive containers, citing littering and alcohol problems. In the meantime, Councilor Keith Bona came up with the idea of a volunteer redemption program and soon raised donations from local businesses and organizations to fund the effort. Melanie Mowinski applied for the Guild of Bookworkers Mid-Career Award, a newly established award by the guild. The printmaker showcased her "Plunder Books," a sustainable artistic practice in which she takes trash and discarded items and recycles them into a story.  Children were told to cover their faces as the smoke blew in their direction. Firefighters wanted the demonstration to be as real as possible. FLORIDA, Mass. — Students from Abbott Memorial School received an up-close lesson in fire safety Thursday during a field trip to the fire station, where they met with local firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and State Police for a live, hands-on demonstration. The Volunteer Fire Department has hosted the program for some years now.
