Cheshire Woman Victim of Sunday Night Murder; Husband Charged

Luis Angel Rosado, 50, has had a murder charge filed against him in Northern Berkshire District in the death of his wife, Jillian Rosado. The file has been impounded and no further information has been made available. The Berkshire Eagle reports that Jillian Rosado sought an abuse prevention order against her husband in March. A Luis Rosado was charged with domestic violence in 2020 and sentence to a year in the Berkshire County House of Corrections.    The Berkshire District Attorney's Office confirmed it had obtained an arrest warrant for Luis Rosado. Police are working on locating and bringing Rosado into custody and request anyone with information about his whereabouts

North Adams Mayor's Fitness Challenge Returns

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Mayor's Fitness Challenge (MFC) will return after a two year break in the month of June.    This will be the 6th Annual MFC for North Adams. In past years, the challenge expanded into a challenge between the cities of Pittsfield and North Adams, but this year the challenge will only be in North Adams and will only span the month of June.   This year's challenge is coordinated by the Coalition's Health & Wellness Coordinator, Jessi Byrne, who hopes the community can come together with the common goal of increasing the health and wellness of the city.   Participants will be working to build and track points by eating fruits

McCann Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian for Class of 2022

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Tyler Pettit and Ethan Rudin are the top students for the class of 2022 at McCann Technical School, said Principal Justin Kratz.    Pettit, son of Lynn and Patrick Pettit, is valedictorian of the class and is graduating from the Information Technology Program.    He is the recipient of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent's Award for Academic Excellence, Harvard Book Award, and Western New England University Book Award and is first in his class with a 4.38 grade-point average. 'A Sense of Place' Opening at Real Eyes Gallery

ADAMS, Mass. — Local artists Debi Pendell, Diane Sawyer, Sarah Sutro and Betty Vera created artwork for the exhibit "A Sense of Place" to raise money to help those impacted by homelessness.   The pieces created by members of North Adams Contemporary will be on display June 4 from 5-7 during an opening reception at RealEyes Gallery on 71 Park St.   According to a press release: "A Sense of Place" suggests a feeling of belonging: to a household, a neighborhood, a town. NAHA Receives Increased Capital Grant of $1M

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the Housing Authority an annual Capital Fund Award of just over $1 million   Executive Director Jennifer Hohn told the commissioners that the authority received essentially double what it usually does.    "This is also performance-based and if you are a high performer you get a high-performer bonus," Hohn said. Berkshire County will be offering a variety of indoor and outdoor events this hot rainy weekend including music festivals, concerts, fundraisers, and farmers markets.    Solid Sound 2022 Mass MOCA, North Adams   Grammy award-winning band Wilco will be headlining at the Solid Sound Festival this Friday through Saturday.    Solid Sound happens every other summer on Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's 16-acre campus. NBUW's Spirit of Caring Awards Being Held in Person

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Northern Berkshire United Way is hosting the 4th annual Spirit of Caring Awards on Thursday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 3 West Events in the Norad Mill. 

This will be the first time since 2019 that the event will be held in person. This event honors individuals for their service to Northern Berkshire United Way, its network and the overall Northern Berkshire Community.

Storms In Store For Solid Sound Weekend

It is a busy weekend in North County with the Solid Sound Music Festival opening its gates Friday and Memorial Day ceremonies Monday.    Hopefully, the weather cooperates.   Thursday, May 26, will be a cloudy spring day with temperatures in the mid-70s but come Friday, temperatures will creep up into the 80s with showers and thunderstorms expected.   Expect high humidity and cloud cover throughout the day. CHP Names Two New Dentists to Practices in North Adams, Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two dentists have joined Community Health Programs' (CHP) dental practices in Pittsfield and North Adams, where they provide care to adults and children.   Dr. Ankineedu Babu Dasari has joined CHP North Adams Family Dental.
