NBCC Gifts Louison House Funding to Support Emergency Winter Housing Needs| 10:55AM / Wednesday, November 01, 2023 | |
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition (NBCC) announced that they will support the work of the Louison House by giving the organization a one-time gift of $20,000. The funds came to the NBCC through the New England Rural Health Association. NBCC believes, that in light of the current rise in housing insecurity within the region, these funds are best utilized to support the Louison House, which provides services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The washout by the Horrigan Road culvert has been restored and the work is underway on the West Road damage. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town's recovering from the July 10 rainstorm but the highway foreman cautioned the Select Board on Wednesday that the pot for road work is emptied out. Kyle Hurlbut said the Highway Department has already gone over its budget by $35,000 to deal with issues apart from the three big projects on Gleason Avenue, Horrigan Road and West Road.  Drury High graduate Kayla McGrath has a team-high eight goals for the Springfield College women's soccer team this fall. Last week, she scored both Pride goals in a 2-0 win over Wellesley. McGrath's two game-winning goals this season is currently seventh in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. She has played 29 games and has 10 starts over the last two seasons for Springfield, which was 8-4-5 overall (6-2-3 in the NEWMAC) in the regular season and opens the conference tournament on Tuesday against Smith. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |
Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
