The ordinance sets a $40-a-day parking fee for the St. Anthony Municipal Parking Lot and other public lots, largely for high-traffic event days at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. This also was advised by the Traffic Commission. Mayor Jennifer Macksey requested it be returned by the first meeting in September prior to the Freshgrass Festival. DCR Bans Campfires, Open Flames in State Parks06:48PM / Tuesday, August 23, 2022 | | CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The Department of Conservation and Recreation is dousing campfires at state parks and facilities until further notice. In an announcement late Tuesday, DCR said it was implementing a ban on all open flames and charcoal fires because of the high risk of wildfires. "We've been dealing with historic drought conditions which have been fueling fires across the state and here at Breakheart Reservation for the past few weeks," said DCR Commissioner Douglas Rice at the state reservation in Saugus where more than 75 acres have burned the last couple days. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Mohawk Trail Woodlands Partnership will hold two public listening sessions in the coming weeks to gather feedback from the public on its 10-year plan. The two sessions will be held via Zoom at 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 7 p.m. on Sept. 14. The sessions will give residents of the member towns an opportunity to ask about the plan, provide comments and ask members of the partnership questions. The employees are picketing outside the museum premises until 6 p.m., when it closes. They seek a minimum contract of $18 per hour for the first year of their contract and pay raises in 2023 and 2024. "We are striking today in our fight for a fair contract," said Maro Elliot, a member of the union's negotiating committee. "We're fighting for a living wage and fair working conditions.
