LOUIS, Mo. -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced Sunday their selections for Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for August, with Springfield Cardinals (AA) outfielder Matt Koperniak and Palm Beach Cardinals (A) right-handed reliever Andrew Marrero receiving the honors. Koperniak, 24, led all qualified Cardinals minor leaguers with a .371 average (33-for-89), a 1.091 OPS and ranked first for the month in hits, home runs (six), RBIs (22), extra-base hits (13) and total bases (60) across 22 games.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The community welcomed a new hobby game store, Berkshire Adventures Guild, to Eagle Street on Friday morning. The hobby that was once limited to tabletops has grown in popularity over the years due to the increased accessibility digital platforms like YouTube and Twitch have provided. "I think it's exposure. I think in general, there's been a nerd culture is chic, and has been for 15 to 20 years now.  Berkshire County and areas surrounding are hosting a variety of events this warm Labor Day Weekend, including artwalks, concerts, ghost tours, and more FIRST Friday Community Picnic on Eagle Street Eagle Street, North Adams Historic Eagle Street will be closed to traffic from 5 to 9 on Friday for music, food and events. Beer and wine will be served by Desperado's Mexican Restaurant on the sidewalk next to the Eagle Street parklet, galleries and businesses will be open late, and DJ DUBTC will be spinning tunes all night. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Superior Court on Monday arraigned the third of four defendants charged with murder in the homicide of Reymon Delacruz-Batista. Naquan Miller, 43, faces charges of murder, armed kidnapping with serious bodily injury, accessory before the fact, accessory after the fact, and description of documents and objects. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Students in the North Adams Public Schools return to classes this week with minimal COVID-19 restrictions in place, as the district continues to follow public health guidance on the virus. Superintendent Barbara Malkas said students will only be required to wear a mask when in the nurse's office or when returning from COVID-19 quarantine. K-through-8th-grade students returned to classes on Tuesday while Drury High School students began on Wednesday.
