SVHC Foundation Opens the Summer Gala Raffle

North Adams Library Director to Leave Position

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Library Director Sarah Sanfilippo will move on from the position after three years.   "While I am leaving for an exciting opportunity closer to family, I am sorry to be leaving North Adams, especially just as the world appears to be getting back to some kind of normal," Sanfilippo said in an email exchange. Drury High Students Stage Protest Against Roe v. Wade Overturn

A student-organized protest lead by Jaycee Babbs at BArT Charter School walked out for about 10 minutes on Thursday morning. The students held signs and Babbs spoke about the importance of Roe v. Wade and thanked her classmates for participating. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Students at two North County schools marched out of classs on Thursday to protest the likely overturn of Roe v. NBYHL Ice Jam Fundraiser Concert

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Northern Berkshire Youth Hockey League (NBYHL) is hosting a fundraising event at the Peter Foote Memorial Rink on Saturday, May 14.   The ice will be melted in order to host a night of country music to benefit NBYHL.   Local singer/songwriter CJ Field and Nashville recording artist Timmy Brown will be performing.     Food trucks and a bar will be provided by Bounti Fare   Doors open at 5 pm. Summer Temperatures Expected this Week

The Berkshires can expect an early glimpse at some summer temperatures this week.   We are looking at a high of 74 in North Adams today, according to Accuweather.   But be warned, the National Weather Service released a special weather statement that indicated that a  very dry airmass combined with gusty winds will result in elevated fire weather concerns today.   This warning expires at 8 pm   Wednesday, May 11 gets even better with a high of 80 predicted. McCann, BCC Sign Updated Agreement for Medical Programs

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — McCann Technical School and Berkshire Community College have signed updated articulation agreements for surgical technology, dental assisting and medical assisting.

The agreements, which have existed in some form for nearly three decades, allow course credits in the three McCann programs to transfer between the two organizations. McCann Superintendent James Brosnan, BCC President Ellen Kennedy and BCC Dean of STEM and Allied Health Frank Schickor signed the agreement on Monday.
