Springfield Man Arraigned in Superior Court On Drug Charges 02:30PM / Wednesday, June 14, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On June 8, Antonio Laboy, 25 of Springfield, was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, subsequent offense and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, subsequent offense. According to a report from the district attorney's office, Laboy was present during the execution of a search warrant on a North Adams residence that is a part of an active investigation for narcotics distribution. Further investigation alleges that in combination with items sized during the search of the residence, Laboy was a participant in the narcotics distribution. FLORIDA, Mass. — The family of the late Stanley Brown donated two relatively expensive local history books to the Florida Free Library in his memory. The series they donated — "The Coming of the Train: The Hoosac Tunnel and Wilmington and Deerfield River Railroads and the Industries They Served" written by the late Rowe resident Brian Donaldson — is composed of two volumes. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Berkshire Black Economic Council Inc. partners with First Congregational Church of North Adams to host "I Am Afro: A Street Fair for All the People." This free Juneteenth celebration takes place on Saturday, June 17, featuring performances, pop-up booths, food, and family-friendly activities. No registration is required and anyone is welcome. Free buses will be running between Pittsfield and North Adams, with stops in Adams. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the lawn of the church at 134 Main St. there will be dance, music, visual and theater arts, and spoken word by local Black residents. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
