North Adams Walgreens to Close in February

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Walgreens pharmacy store is closing Thursday, Feb. 22.    A spokesperson for the company confirmed the closing on Thursday and said "We will make every effort to place impacted team members at nearby stores."   Pharmacy customers are being told their prescriptions will automatically transfer to the Walgreens at 212 Main St. in Williamstown.    iBerkshires did not get a response on questions about the building being for sale or if other Walgreens in Berkshire County are also being affected.     Walgreens announced last year the closure of 150 stores in the United States; it closed about 200 in 2019.   The

Krystle Kincaid of Berkshire Harm Reduction tells the City Council about finding fentanyl and xlyazine in drug samples.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire County had 47 fatal overdoses in 2022, a dozen of them in North County. Of those, eight occurred in North Adams.    One way to stop the deaths is Narcan, said Krystle Kincaid, prevention services supervisor at Berkshire Harm Reduction. "We're literally trying to give it to everybody."   Narcan is the brand name of naloxone, an over-the-counter drug that can reverse an opioid overdose by blocking the drug's effects within three minutes.   "It's the easiest thing to use. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket. Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.

The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
